The end of the Great Patriotic War in Russia. A 16 year-old sniper of the Hitler Youth is left behind by the retreating Nazis in a destroyed building. A Jewish family made up of an invalid-grandfather, his 15 year-old granddaughter and her mother return from the town’s evacuation to another destroyed building across the street. As the sniper watches their lives through his riflescope he falls in love with the girl.
“The Day of the Beast” is a captivating and uplifting film about first love, despair, human kindness and acts of selflessness in the midst of war.
