synopsis

 

Saint-Petersburg, year 1795.  The English ambassador at the court of the Empress Ekaterina II, lord Whitword, starts an affair with young Olga Zubova – the sister of Empress’s favorite. When the Emperor Pavel I enters the throne, Great Britain begins to express dissatisfaction by his unpredictable policy.
Whitword becomes one of the organizers of the conspiracy against Emperor Pavel I, and Olga, helps him, risking her life, because he vowed her the eternal love. But as soon as the palace revolution finishes with the Emperor’s murder, Whitword doesn’t need Olga anymore and she was proclaimed a high traitress…
